Flying Along at 10 Degrees

On Sundayof last week I got second place in a dogsled race! My dogs went really fast. My time was 1:28. Here is a fun story problem about the race:

If my time was 1:28 and the first place time was 6 seconds less, how long did it take the the first place winner to finish? And, if Samantha got fifth place with a time of 1:40, how many more secons than 1st place did it take her to finish the race?

  1. Those are excellent questions!! I think I have it figured out, though. Was the winning time 1:22? And when I subtract Samantha's time from that, I get 18 seconds more for her run. How did I do? I think it would be fun to ride in a dog sled. You get to do such fun things! I love you, GramE(heart)

  2. I would love to see you in the sled dog race. What fun! From your story problem, I can tell that everyone was pretty close in time. But you went by yourself and then compared the times, right? Otherwise, it could be quite the circus of kids, sleds, & dogs. I would enjoy visiting Cantwell for a day in winter--Spring Rhondy day. :) Otherwise, summer is more my "cup of tea."
