The Double Post

Yesterday, Bob Hempsted invited me and Samantha over to feed his sled dogs. We had a good time. We feed them their dog food along with a hamburger/water mixture.

The day before that, there were five ptarmigan in our yard. They are our state bird. In summer, ptarmigan change from white to brown so that they are camouflaged with the dirt, and in winter their feathers are white to blend in with the snow. They also have feathers all the way down their legs to keep them warm.

  1. So... it's still summer--according to the color of the ptarmigans. :) And it sounds like you had a lot of fun feeding the sled dogs. That's something we missed seeing when we visited you.

  2. What an interesting week you have had, Connor! Feeding the dogs and learning about how MUCH they eat is something most kids never get to do. I remember the ptarmigans now from our Denali bus ride - I love the feathers on their legs! God provides even for the critters, doesn't He?
